Always an amazing experience. Sat at the bar top for the first time and had a great experience with not only the food but the amazing staff. It is a busy restful but service is perfect and the pace of the courses are on point.

First time here and I was amazed by the delicious food! I would not have thought that I am a fan of dumplings, and I have to say that the their dumplings made me fall in love with them. Since I don't eat beef meat, my review is specifically for the veggie, chicken. However, my friends and brother, who all had the pork options, thoroughly enjoyed their meals. First timers: Follow the way they teach on how to eat their dumplings. Garlic green beans: were very tasty and cooked perfectly Hot & sour soup: really good with the added hot sauce Egg fried rice and chicken fried rice were absolutely delicious. Chicken XLB: The dumpling skin was nice and thin, and the chicken filling is perfectly seasoned and, most importantly, juicy! Spicy chicken wonton: This is definitely my favorite dish. Their "spicy" sauce is legit and makes you want it more, very flavorful. Sesame noodle: Very strong peanut flavor but add that spicy sauce and it makes it really good. Noodles are cooked very well so not soggy at all. Cucumber salad: Refreshing yet not overwhelming. Drinks are made to perfection and are quite tasty from the lychee martini to the old fashioned. Chocolate dumpling desert: wow wouldn't have thought it would be that dang good. this place is deft popular for a reason, but the wait sometimes can be ridiculous but well worth it and can go around the mall in the interim of the wait. highly recommend it.

INCREDIBLE! That is all that I have to say. My boyfriend and I decided to go on our anniversary weekend in SD, and we were amazed by how good the food is. At first, we were a little skeptical due to how much people hype it up. Walking in, the ambiance and decor is very modern, and the cool thing is that you can see kitchen staff making the dumplings. We both started off with some drinks, pear lychee martini and lychee mojito. They made these drinks very well, and they tasted amazing. Then, we got started with food: Cucumber salad - I would give this an 8.5/10. The cucumbers mixed with the sauce that they make it in compliments each other very well. The cucumbers are juicy and crunchy, and it's overall such a great combo. String beans with garlic - I would give this one a 10/10! Although this dish was very simple, it was cooked to perfection. Every single string bean was coated in garlic and had a very juicy texture to it. This was by far my favorite dish, and it is a MUST! Pork xiao long bao - I would give this a 9/10. These were amazing, and the sauce that they have you make with the vinegar/soy sauce/chili oil goes really well with the soup dumplings. The ratio of soup to dumpling is perfect, and this one is definitely a staple when coming here. Noodles with sesame sauce - this was a 6/10 for me. I would recommend passing on this one. It was a little flavorless for us, besides the strong sesame flavor, but that's a given since the dish is a sesame dish. We had to mix it with some of the sauces of the other dishes, but we were a little disappointed with this one. Shrimp and pork spicy wontons - I would give this one a 9/10. The flavor in the spicy sauce was incredible. It was a sauce that we both had never tasted before and really liked this dish. Definitely try this one if you're into spicy dishes! Shrimp and pork dumplings (not pictured) - I would give this one an 8.5/10. We were wowed with this one! We weren't planning on ordering these but wanted to try something outside of what was "popular", and these were spectacular! Although the filling tasted a little different, it was so juicy. We really enjoyed this one! Chocolate and mochi xiao long bao - I would give this one an 11/10!!! Holy moly!!!!! These were absolutely incredible. The chocolate is so rich and goes so well with the mochi dumpling. I can't get over how good it is! Overall, DTF was an amazing experience! If you want to not have to wait on the wait list, I would recommend making reservations. We made them 2 weeks in advanced, and it filled up pretty quickly. Highly recommend if you haven't been!

Food, service, ambiance, fire that's all I gotta say. It's busy but that's cause it's food. It hits every time. It's one of the joys in my life.

Tried Din Tai Fung for the very first time on Thursday when I was in La Jolla for a work trip. It definitely lived up to the hype for me! My husband and I stopped by without a reservation around noon and we were told it'd be a 10-15 minute wait to get a table but it took probably only 5 minutes to get called back. I was surprised how busy the whole shopping center was in the middle of the day on a Thursday. We were seated pretty shortly after getting called back and given paper menus with a QR code so we could pull up the images of each item. The restaurant was busy but not too loud. We ordered the pork xiao long bao, garlic green beans, and chicken fried rice and my husband and I devoured everything! The green beans were probably my favorite, they were crispy and flavorful. My husband said his favorite item was the fried rice, it rivaled Benihanas fried rice for sure! The bao were good but just a tad underwhelming. Next time we want to try a pan fried dumpling. Overall service was fast and friendly and the price wasn't too bad, we spent about $65 for the bao, green beans, rice, and 2 drinks. I hope to come back and try this place again!

Always excellent top notch service. Food is great. Crazy busy, but the food comes out at just the right pace. Must try Truffle Xiao Long Baos.

Amazing service and food . Our waiter also gave us some really good recommendations and love them . Their chocolate steamed buns are sooo delicious!

Service was great, food authentic. Highly recommend the mochi dumplings great experience, would come back.

The food was great and yummy the chicken dim sum was okay it tasted bland so use your sauce to make it taste good. The fried rice with pork chop is super yummy so I would recommend that. The chocolate dessert was super rich so make sure to get the dipping sauce to even it out a bit. Overall, it was a great experience. I highly recommend redoing the waiting time and checking in process way to convoluted. Just tell them when you get a text you have 15 min not come back again the second time for another text. Our service was relatively fast even when there so many people there. Great experience overall. I would recommend. The ambiance is okay. Too crowded can't hear well.
